Buying a shirt online comes down to one worry: will it fit? Our tees don't all fit the same way, and that's on purpose. We make a generous fit, a classic fit and a slim fit, and each one suits a different person and a different day.
This t-shirt fit guide walks you through all of them, then shows you how to pick your size using a shirt you already own. It takes five minutes and a measuring tape.
Our three fits, side by side
| Style | Price (CAD) | Fabric | Fit | Sizes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard tees | $49.95 | 100% cotton, shrink free | Generous | Small to XXXXLarge |
| Long sleeve tees | $54.95 | 100% cotton, shrink free | Generous | Small to XLarge |
| Golden Era ringer | $39.95 | 50% cotton, 50% polyester | Classic | Small to XXLarge |
| Women's baby rib | $24.95 | 100% cotton | Slim | Small to XXLarge |
The measurements for each size are on our size guide. Keep it open in another tab while you read.
Generous fit: our standard tees
Most of our tees, like the Resilience T-Shirt and the rest of the tees collection, are cut with a generous fit. They're 100% cotton with a heavy, sturdy feel.
Generous means roomy. The size guide calls it a relaxed fit for lifting and everyday wear, and that's exactly what it's for. You get space through the chest and shoulders, so you can move, train or just be comfortable.
Who it suits:
- You like your tees a bit loose.
- You wear your shirts to the gym.
- You want a heavier shirt that holds its shape instead of clinging.
If you prefer a closer fit, this is the one style where sizing down makes sense. Measure first, though (more on that below).
Generous fit, longer sleeves: the long sleeve tee
The Black Oni Long Sleeve Tee uses the same idea as our standard tees: 100% cotton, shrink free, heavy and sturdy, generous fit. The difference is the sleeve, and the size range, which runs Small to XLarge.
If you're usually an XXLarge or bigger in tees, check the size guide measurements carefully before you order this one. The XLarge may or may not work for you, and it's better to know that before it arrives.
Classic fit: the Golden Era ringer
The Golden Era ringer is our classic gym tee, with contrast trim at the collar and sleeves. It's a 50/50 cotton-poly blend, and the product page describes it as lighter and a little stretchier than our heavyweight tees.
Classic fit means it runs closer to the body than our standard tees. So here's the rule, straight from the product page: size up if you prefer the fit of our regular tees.
If you like a trimmer, fitted look, take your usual size. If you're used to the roominess of our generous tees, go one up. That's the whole trick.
The lighter blend also makes the ringer a good pick for warm-weather training, when a heavy cotton tee feels like too much.
Slim fit: the women's baby rib tees
Our women's Black Rose Baby Rib and White Rose Baby Rib tees are 100% cotton in a rib knit, with a slim fit. They sit close to the body.
Take your usual size for a snug fit, or one up for more ease. They pair well with high-waisted jeans, or layered under an open crewneck.
Don't expect these to fit like our standard tees. They're a different shirt for a different look.
How to find your size with a shirt you already own
Size labels vary a lot between brands. Your Large might be someone else's Medium. The most reliable way to choose is to measure a shirt that already fits you the way you like, then compare it with our numbers.
- Pick your favourite tee. Choose one with the fit you want, not just one in your usual size.
- Lay it flat. Put it on a table or the floor, front side up, and smooth out the wrinkles. Don't stretch it.
- Measure the chest pit to pit. Go straight across from the bottom of one armpit seam to the other. Double that number if you're comparing against a measurement taken all the way around the chest, which is how our size guide describes chest for tees.
- Measure the length. Start at the neck seam and go straight down to the bottom hem. That's how our size guide measures body length.
- Measure the sleeve if you care about it. For tees, go from the shoulder seam to the edge of the sleeve opening.
- Compare with the size guide. Find the size whose chest is closest to your shirt, then check the length. If the chest matches but the length doesn't, decide which matters more to you.
Write your numbers down somewhere. You'll use them every time you buy a shirt online, not just from us.
When to size up, when to size down
Here's our cheat sheet:
- Standard tees: take your usual size for a roomy fit. Size down only if your measurements say so and you want it closer.
- Golden Era ringer: size up if you want it to fit like our standard tees. Take your usual size for a classic, closer fit.
- Baby rib: usual size for snug, one up for more room.
- Between sizes on a generous tee? Go with the smaller one. The cut already gives you room.
- Between sizes on the ringer or baby rib? Go with the bigger one.
Do our tees shrink?
Our standard tees and long sleeve are shrink free, so you can size for how the shirt fits today rather than guessing what it'll do after a wash. No need to buy a size up just in case.
That said, treat them well. We recommend washing cold, inside out, and hanging to dry. It keeps the print looking new and the fabric feeling like it did the day you got it. We cover the details in our guide to washing screen printed tees.
Questions people ask
Do I need a different size for the ringer than for your other tees?
Maybe. The ringer is a classic fit and runs closer to the body. If you like how our regular tees fit, size up.
Are the baby rib tees stretchy?
They're a rib knit that sits close to the body. Take your usual size for snug, or one up for more ease.
What if it still doesn't fit?
Our size guide says you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return on unworn items with tags. Measure first and you probably won't need it.
